Happy New Year Friends!
While it’s still technically very early in 2020, it seems much of the world is flying high with the whole New Year, New You vibe. To be honest…it’s one of my favorite times of year because of all the big goal setting, visioning, and excitement that a new year brings.
But the thing I see most often from people year-after-year with all this New Year, New Me talk is that most people don’t do anything differently.
Sure, in January they might go to the gym a few more times, drink more water, floss their teeth, vow to be more productive, do a social media detox or create a spreadsheet outlining their debt to be paid off, but after a few weeks or even days…they fall off track and forget about the changes they wanted to make to begin with. And instead of getting back on track, they feel like a failure and quit altogether.
The more I got to thinking about this, the more I realized that during this time of year, most people are simply trying to change their actions/behaviors without ever really considering what lies behind and beneath those behaviors…aka mindset.
Truthbomb: A clean slate is only as good as the plans put into action to create actual change.
And friends, it has to be more than you just changing what you “do”…you must also change how you think. This is why I say over and over again that “Mindset is everything when it comes to anything.”
Think about it…
- Your spending habits aren’t random…they are connected to your beliefs about money.
- Your repetitive relationship challenges aren’t random…they are tied to your beliefs about self-worth/love etc.
- Your view of life/business/work/health/wealth and all the things aren’t random…they are all tied to your beliefs aka your mindset.
So, as you begin thinking about the changes you want to make in your life for 2020, my invitation and suggestion to you is to remember the mindset component of change in addition to the “action” items.
When you transform your mindset habits and your action habits together, you create a power and flow that is unstoppable.
