In the last week or so I’ve had conversations with at least 4 of my clients who feel like they must quit.
Now, for a coach who has literally been there a dozen times over the last 7 years or so, I know this is part of the journey, but when you are in it, it can often feel like the only solution to what you are feeling.
If YOU are feeling like giving up on your dream, desire, journey, or the destination you’ve been seeking for what feels like a lifetime, there are a few things I want you to know.
1. You are not alone. The energy of the last few weeks has been pretty intense for a lot of people. “Life” is happening all the time and has the potential to interfere with our best laid plans and also has a hand in f-ing up our mindset. And let me tell you, when you are IN that energy, you often feel like the ONLY person who’s not killin’ it with their dreams which makes you feel that much worse.
Believe me when I say, I understand.
There have been times in my journey where I was literally crying on the floor of my shower (and office and bedroom) because I felt like I had failed miserably. I cried out of fear, frustration, and total resentment for all the time and FAITH I had invested in my journey only to see very little results. I was angry and I wanted SO badly to simply wave my white flag of surrender and walk away. (Thank goodness I didn’t!) Trust me when I say…you are not alone.
2. Your current reality has a message for you. I am a firm believer that we are always guided on our journey and when it feels like things aren’t “working” or we feel a bump in the journey, it’s always a sign. Most recently I received a message that I wasn’t listening to my body and resting nearly enough and when I didn’t listen, my body made sure I couldn’t ignore it. I’ve spent the last 3 days barely able to move or walk and forced to rest.
So, what is this current feeling telling you? If you can get past the external “stuff”, what’s the deeper meaning?
Maybe you need to shift your focus a bit or spend more time working on self-care and mindset. Maybe instead of giving up, you’re being guided to surrender the how and just ‘be’ with where you are.
3. This is part of the process. I know it sounds crazy, but for as long as I’ve been doing this, I know this for sure. Doubting yourself and questioning the journey from time-to-time is part of the process and it means you are EXPANDING. If you didn’t doubt yourself…well you’re just not human. When you are striving for something new, it feels scary and at times causes you to wobble. It doesn’t have to mean anything.
I repeat…It doesn’t have to mean ANYTHING.
You get to decide what it means and if you choose to believe this is just part of the journey, then there’s nothing to get riled up about. You just take it in stride and keep moving forward. (Not always easy to do, I know.)
4. It’s absolutely worth it…IF you still have the desire/dream. I can’t tell you how many times I thought I might quit on this dream of mine. I can remember very heated discussions with my wife about my dream, that no matter how grim the situation seemed, I couldn’t let go of. If I were operating solely from my mind and “logic”, I would’ve quit a long time ago, but I didn’t. Instead, I chose to believe it WOULD be worth it and because of that..it was.
What you choose to believe means everything.
You can choose to believe it won’t work out and that there’s no point moving forward or you can choose to believe in your vision. I know it’s not always going to be easy holding your vision when “reality” seemingly points to “no”, but that my friends is how the magic happens. You must look beyond what you see and trust in the vision and dream you’ve been given. That’s the secret.
So, my question for you is this…do you still want to quit?
This is not a hypothetical question. Post a comment below and let me know.
You were given your dream and desire for a reason and that reason is so you can tap into that unlimited potential within. It’s your time!
The question is, what are you going to do with that time?
If you’re tired of making excuses and you still feel the deep desire to fulfill your dream and you would like some support, feel free to schedule a free consultation and let’s see if we are a good fit.
Big love to you all!
