I don’t know who needs this today, but maybe it’s you.
This week when I asked a client to share her wins from the past week, I heard…
“I just…” and “Well it’s only…” accompanied by a shrug & an eye roll.
Before she could continue, I jumped in with…
“It’s not “just” or “only” anything. It IS and you did that!”
You see, she was doing this thing I see far too often. Not only was she minimizing her wins, but she was discounting the very work we were doing together as it if wasn’t a big deal at all.
When it came down to it, she was shrinking herself & the progress she was making because she wasn’t “there” yet.
I took some time to remind her of how far she’s come in this work and how those things she was describing as “just” and “only” are things she couldn’t have imagined herself doing just 6 months ago. I have a feeling you’ve done this a time or two yourself (probably way more than that) & I’m here to let you know it’s time to stop.
Every time you discount & minimize your progress now, you create more distance between where you are & where you want to be. If you’re just waiting around for the end result, you’re not only missing out on a whole lot of life, but you’re also missing out on the magic that IS the journey. You miss out on the skills you’re building, the wins you’re having & lots of really fun synchronicities that will literally help you get to the “bigger” desires.
It’s time to learn to celebrate all the progress because it IS all progress, even when sometimes it’s hard to see it that way. <–(BTW: That is where your mindset is imperative.)
So when you work with me know that…we don’t do that here. We don’t quit on ourselves or minimize our progress. We don’t talk down to ourselves because we aren’t “there” yet & we certainly don’t bully ourselves into action. You know that doesn’t work.
Instead we celebrate it all, speak & think kindly to ourselves & look at the thoughts that aren’t serving us with a heavy dose of compassion…and then we get to work building empowering beliefs & taking inspired action.
Today, I encourage you to make a list of 10 things you are celebrating from the past week & share your favorite with a friend. Size doesn’t matter. Progress is progress.
