Happy Friday!!
The week back after a holiday is always a bit crazy for me, but I’ve got some awesome tidbits to share with you today! Check them out…
1. Small moves & big impact. So this week I tried a new barre inspired workout that I’d never done before and while I thought it would be “easy” for me since I was a dancer in my teens and 20’s, I was so wrong! I was challenged by these seemingly teeny, tiny movements that at first glance didn’t seem like much, but let me tell you, the day after I was so incredibly sore! I took this as a metaphor for life.
While I wasn’t doing big jumps/squats or lifting heavy weights (real talk I used 2.5lbs and I was dying!), I was clearly having a big impact on my body. The same goes for life. You don’t have to always take big, massive leaps in order to create massive impact. Often, it’s the cumulative effect of small steps over time that makes the biggest difference. 2.It takes as long as it takes. When it comes to life and business there are times when I can often feel frustrated and impatient for not being “there” already. In my head, I often have a timeline of when I think I ‘should’ be there (and usually I feel a bit behind). But the truth is…whatever we desire takes as long as it takes. Now, I suppose that’s a pretty crappy marketing message, but with the kind of journey we are on, it’s true.
What we desire is there for the creating and the sooner we release judgement regarding when it needs to be here…the more enjoyable the journey and likely the faster. So, let’s just take some time to relax about all the “timelines” yeah?
3. Celebrate the journey. Another thing I’ve been pondering that I want to do more often is celebrate the journey as a whole. Not just that, but celebrate what I’ve done that has gotten me here to this very moment. As a goal/action oriented person, I’m always on fire with where I’m going next and the next goal I’m ready to crush, but I don’t often stop and celebrate where I’ve been.
That changes now. At the end of each month, I am going to spend some time celebrating my “wins” for that month and really taking stock of where I’ve been. I think it will make a huge impact on how I feel and what I accomplish moving forward.
4. Surrender first. I’ve said this before and apparently I needed the reminder as it came up in the book I’m reading now. If we all just surrendered our desires, problems, challenges, issues, and the like to the Universe first…life would be so much easier.
Remember, “surrendering” doesn’t mean you let go of the desire, it means you simply let go of your need to control the how/when/who piece. It also doesn’t mean you don’t have to “do” anything. It just means you must be open to and follow the inspiration that comes. Believe me, when you surrender first…life is much sweeter and more magical.
5. YOU are worth investing in! As we move through the busy holiday season and into a new year, it’s important for you to know that YOU are worth investing in…and I don’t just mean money either. I’m talking about investing time, money, energy, interest, momentum, intentions etc.
Your dreams, desires, intentions, health, peace of mind, growth, and self-care are all worth investing in and the thing is…no one needs to give you permission to invest in you except YOU. So, let this be a gentle reminder to allow yourself the opportunity to invest in you, in whatever way, shape or form you feel called. Especially as we enter into a New Year.
