Are you creating your life by choice or by chance?

10 years ago I was a very, VERY different woman.

I was not only working in a dead-end job that I hated, but I was also feeling a bit hopeless.

I wanted more, needed more, and couldn’t help but feel like I was MADE for more, but every day was like Groundhogs Day (you know the movie).  Same uncomfortable, hopeless feeling day after day after day.

Every year felt like my year to make a change and I’d quickly allow that year to pass me by because I was so afraid of doing the BIG SCARY thing that would actually change my life.

I was settling.
I was angry.
I was sad.

And inside my creative soul was screaming at me to wake the hell up!

I can’t quite remember the moment I actually started to listen to it, but eventually I found my way to learning about the Law of Attraction and the idea of consciously creating our reality and I realized something that would change everything.

Up to that point in my life, I had been creating my life by CHANCE not CHOICE.

Creating by chance meant…

• I was always reacting to “life” as it unfolded around me
• My life was often out of my control
• I had to be one of the “lucky” ones in order to succeed
• I was utterly and completely stuck with no idea how to break free

When I learned how to create my life consciously and by choice, everything shifted.

Creating by choice meant…

• I could stop reacting and actually choose how to respond to life around
• I was forever more in control of my own destiny (an incredibly freeing and scary realization)
• If it was meant to be, it was up to ME
• I had the power to actively manifest ALL of my desires

As my journey continued and I learned more and more about what was actually holding me back (ahem, my mindset), my life became vastly different than ever before.

In short, I moved from being stuck in a dead end job to eventually taking the big scary leap into starting my own business and helping other women take the big scary leap into believing in themselves and creating their lives by CHOICE.

I’m sharing all of this with you because if you would have told me 10 years ago that I’d be doing this work for a living, I would have thought you were crazy and likely talking about someone else entirely.  Back then, I didn’t believe in myself much and it’s one of the biggest reasons I do what I do.

I want YOU to know that you can begin creating your life by CHOICE too!

There’s nothing special about me.  I’m not one of the “lucky ones”, nor was I born with some special opportunity that allowed me get a leg up in my journey.

When it comes to your self-care rituals, “How full is your self-care cup?”  

If you’re feeling like your cup has a bit of a whole in it at the moment, you’re not alone.

In fact, the other day I woke up with a ton of anxiety, moodiness, and just a general weird feeling.

Mentally, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.  In fact, over the last few weeks life’s been pretty good (busy, but good) so I couldn’t quite pinpoint what was going on.

A quick internet search and a message to a few of my colleagues in the coaching world and I realized that the planets were doing some funky stuff that was resulting in old emotions rising to the surface and just a general weirdness in the air.

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure about all of the planetary business, but I do know that Mercury is now in Retrograde and that tends to come with its fair share of challenges.  (I don’t blame everything on the planets, but if the emotion fits…well…).

When you add to that the general hustle and bustle of the holiday season coupled with some parenting challenges and such, it can become a bit of a hairy situation.

The more I thought about the anxiety and moodiness that popped up the other day, the more I realized I have been 100% off my self-care game.

In fact, in the last 2 weeks…

• My mindset practice has been pretty hit or miss (mostly miss)
• My workout routine has been completely non-existent
• I haven’t slept properly in weeks and most nights don’t get to bed before 11pm
• My energy is a bit scattered and most of my business planning/tasks have fallen by the wayside

No wonder I’m feeling a bit off.

The majority of the things that keep this empath sane and grounded on a regular basis have fallen by the wayside.  It’s no wonder self-care has been the #1 thing my clients are struggling with at the moment.

Well played, Universe…well played.

I know a lot about feeling stuck in life.  In fact, I’ve felt that way far too many times to count which is why I am so passionate about this work.

Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about the way our brains work and how so many of us are still stuck when we KNOW what we “need” to do, but we just don’t do it.

For instance, I know I will feel better if I am working out consistently, but often I will let my workout be the thing that falls off my plate first before anything else.

For you it might be something like not doing your mindset work when you know it will make a huge difference in your life.

Or maybe you find yourself squandering away your free time, when you know that time could be spent on some tasks that will move your business or dream forward.

Or maybe you are the person who constantly is giving to everyone else, knowing that eventually you will likely burn yourself out and end up exhausted and potentially sick.

Why do we do this to ourselves???

The “reasons” vary, but they typically fall into 2 categories.

1. Being comfortable with the discomfort
2. Mindset junk

Being comfortable with the discomfort simply means you’ve have been “here” for so long that you’ve accepted it as your truth.  Sure, the added weight, guilt, frustration, and worry are all a bit uncomfortable for you, but you’ve dealt with them long enough that they aren’t a big deal.

These discomforts have become a part of your life’s landscape.  It’s like walking into the “junk” room of your home and knowing what it’s going to look like and you become almost immune to the discomfort.  It’s there and you want to change it, but you’ve grown accustomed to how things are so you stay stuck.

Basically, you aren’t feeling “bad” enough to motivate yourself to change.

This is why we see so many people hit rock bottom before they actually DO something about it.  A health scare, a bad accident, a financial crisis etc. are all things that many people have to get to before they decide to make lasting changes.  It’s sad, but true.

Mindset junk of course is the other category and it includes all the other beliefs, thoughts, fears, and worries that keep us from changing.  The thoughts that tell us that we’ve never been thin and likely never will be or that we’ve always been bad with money.

These are basically thoughts that again…you’ve settled into believing.

You’ve thought them so many times and found so much “evidence” in your life to support them, that you no longer question if they are true.  And even if you begin to take the action steps to change your life (start working out, eating better, and getting organized with your time) if you aren’t ALSO doing the mindset work, those actions are likely going to fall by the wayside very quickly.

So, how do you break the cycle and create lasting change without hitting rock bottom?

You play both ends to the middle-meaning, you set the intention to change BEFORE you hit rock bottom AND you get serious about uncovering the mindset junk that is sabotaging your actions and keeping you stuck.

• Get crystal clear on WHY you want to change your life and what that will do for you
• Connect to that FEELING (you’re going to need it when things get rough)
• Commit to doing the mindset work DAILY to uncover, clear, and replace the beliefs that are keeping you in the holding pattern

And if you really want to go at it with all you got, hire help.

There is nothing like putting your money where you’re mouth is when you set an intention in order to really get yourself into a place of change.  Now, I’m not talking about spending thousands of dollars and I’m not even saying you need to hire me.

What I AM saying is that sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know and your vision is limited when it comes to being able to see what has you blocked.

And if you are here, reading this message then maybe, just maybe I am the coach for you.  If not, go find the one who is because there is nothing I want more than to see you THRIVE in all the things you want to be, have and do in this life.

If the 2 things I listed above are holding you back from that amazing life…then it’s time to do something about it.  Something different, something bold,  something outside of your comfort zone.  It’s time to make a different choice.

You don’t have to wait for the New Year to make a change.  Dare to do things differently NOW.  I promise your future self will thank you for it.

When you’re feeling unworthy, it seems nothing feels quite right.

Love often feels foreign and unattainable, success non-existent, and joy…what is that again?

Listen if these are feelings you are having right now, I want you to first know that you are not alone.

In fact, in the mindset work I do with my tribe and 1:1 clients the #1 belief that people bump up against more than anything else is some version of…

I am unworthy or I’m not enough. 

Fundamentally flawed, less than, and just not enough. 

Why is that???

The truth is, I’ve struggled with this concept of feeling unworthy in many areas of my life including love, abundance, and in my business.  I know how paralyzing and limiting it can be.

But, I also know how freeing and expansive it feels when you are able to drop that story in order to embrace the fullness of who you really are. (Full disclosure, I’m not completely “there”, but it gets better by the day.)

Now, I can tell you most certainly where my feelings of lack and not enough-ness came from (mainly a family environment that never empowered me and consistently told me how I was less-than), however even a logical understanding of “why” didn’t remove the feeling of not being enough.

In fact, it was far less about what I learned as a child and more about the story I was practicing on a daily basis about why I didn’t have the life, love, and abundance I desired.  In my mind, it must have been because I was unworthy or undeserving of it otherwise I’d have it already right?

Wrong.

The reason I didn’t have all those things is because I (not my mom, dad, ex’s, God) accepted and truly believed I was unworthy. 

Plain and simple…and the same goes for you.

You are only unworthy, undeserving, or otherwise “not enough” when you accept and believe that you are.

YOU hold the power to expand or stay where you are.
YOU create your beliefs that lead to freedom or keep you stuck.
YOU practice the stories that empower you to expand or keep you bound.

And best of all YOU get to DECIDE.

When you have practiced the story that in some way you are not enough and you have seen the “reality” in front of you that tells you that you are not enough, then it’s easy to believe that’s the “truth” of who you are.

I mean, there are so many “examples” of how and why you aren’t enough, but allow me to shed some light on who you truly are.

You are a creator first and foremost.  You have the ability to create any situation, opportunity, experience, or “thing” you choose.

You have free will that allows you to think what you want to think and believe what you want to believe and from those thoughts and beliefs your life is created and made manifest.

That, my friend is pure power.

You are worthy, deserving, and enough as you are, where you are, with what you have.  No amount of money in your bank account, number on the scale, or level of success you reach will make you “more” worthy than you are right now.

In fact, you are worthy simply because you are HERE and you are YOU.  Period.

Manifesting- Keep thinking of what you want

What I’m reading:  Had I written this just a week ago, the book I am sharing with you would be completely different, but this week something really cool happened when I listened to my intuition (imagine that) and I want to share the quick backstory with you!

Last weekend while running errands with my family, I ended up killing time in a used bookstore (also one of my faves).  While I was looking around with no intention of buying any books (because I have a stack that I’m currently reading), I was guided to the back of the store.

While I was looking at all the books in the back of the store, I stumbled upon a book called Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch.  Now if you don’t know about this book (and I didn’t) this is actually a series of books and the book I found was Book 3.

Behind it was also Book 2, but Book 1 was nowhere to be found.  A bit disgruntled (because if I was going to read this book I wanted to start with Book 1), I decided to buy Book 3 (after a long conversation in my head about not needing anymore books etc.)

Turns out this was the BEST decision I could have ever made.  This book is SO enlightening and powerful that it has blown my mind and soul wide open!  If you feel called to read it, do yourself a favor and grab it.  It is by far one of my favorites right now.

Self-care Ritual:  This week has also been pretty busy and I’ve been feeling the call to do a bit more self-care.  I’ll admit, my self-care rituals shift from week-to-week depending on my mood, but this week it’s all about…

• A 30-45 Minute Sweat Sesh
• Detox Bath (with epsom salts and essential oils)
• Lemon water (my absolute FAVE)
• Snuggling in bed with a good book

Last but not least (and honestly a little bit random as it has nothing to do with coaching) is my current favorite breakfast choice.

Now, I’m usually not a creature of habit when it comes to what I eat, but lately I’ve fallen in love with the simplicity and deliciousness of a new oatmeal I found a few weeks ago.  The oatmeal is called Think Thin (maybe it’s the name that got me with mindset and all).  It is so yummy and comes in a few different flavors and honestly, it’s all I’ve been eating in the morning for the last several weeks.
