This week I have seen a lot of wonderful posts on various blogs and on Facebook about new goals and intentions for the year ahead. I must admit, these posts inspire me and though I know resolutions don’t likely last past the first month of the year, I love seeing many of my friends and family members so positive about the year ahead. As for myself, I am still mulling over my letter to my future self and processing in my mind and my heart what I truly want for the year ahead. In the meantime, I have taken on another challenge to assist me in my theme for the year.
I didn’t write about this challenge when I decided to take it on simply because I wasn’t quite sure I would be able to do it and to be honest, there is a part of me that still wonders if I will be able to complete it, however I am taking it one day at a time. The challenge is to meditate daily for 100 days in a row. This challenge is unlike anything I have ever done before considering I have found it difficult to commit to meditating just 2 days in a row, but I thought it would help me remain grounded as I move throughout the year. For the last 4 days that I have been meditating, it has worked.
Today I am grateful for positive intentions and my mediation practice. The positive intentions I am witnessing help me to maintain a positive outlook for my year ahead. My meditation practice helps me to stay within the current moment and to simply be here. Together they help me reach a balance that I haven’t had before.
A balance between my present and future that allow me to stand equally with one foot on each side. I am inspired by what the future may hold, but open to the moment I have right now. Balance, a type of balance I haven’t felt until now.
What are you grateful for this week?

What a lovely blog you have! Meditating every day for 100 days huh? Sounds wonderful. I have just completed 40 days of yoga, and I do incorporate a short meditation at the end…but i have to admit, I go through stages with meditation, and right now, I don’t seem to be very good at it. I know, ‘good’ at meditation sounds silly, but it’s probably true. i’d love to read more about your process.

Thanks! I don’t have much of a process at his point. I am sort of fitting it in as I can during each day but I suspect as time wears on I will have longer and shorter meditations. Right now they are only about 5-10 mins. Sometimes I have background music to help me float away with the music and I find those times to be easier to stay in meditation for a longer period of time. I will definitely continue to share my journey as this goes on.
I love your 40 days of yoga. I have only done it once or twice but really loved it. I just might add that to my year of practices! 🙂

Yes, music is a wonderful tool. One of the things I like about yoga is that done mindfully, it is a moving meditation. I guess everything could be, if done mindfully!

That is very true. I have a bad habit of letting my mind wander when I am doing other things, but am finding specific moments when I am fully being aware of the moment and it is so wonderful. With continued practice, I hope to make it a habit.

I agree with Sara! Your intention is impressive. I especially like that it is working towards something that is positive, instead of releasing something negative. I think I have to be more conscious of my intentions!

Hi Rufina,
I guess I didn’t think of it that way. I am on day 8 and am finally reaching a flow. I can tell a distinct difference in how I feel so, so far it’s great. I can’t wait to see how it will feel after 30 days, not to mention 100!

I set intentions rather than resolutions! Like for 2013 it’s “All forms of Love & Communication.” Happy 2013!
I’m thankful for the life I’ve created!!!
